On the 3rd April 2018, ICC held a workshop on generating intellectual properties that took place at BMU SQS. The workshop lasted for 2 hours, starting from 3.00 pm until 5.00 pm. This workshop was handled by the Director of Innovation and Commercialization Center (ICC) UUM, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Razamin Ramli. There were 38 participants representing various schools and institutes, such as SBM, SCIMPA, SOIS, IBS, SOC, STML, SQS, SAPSP, STHEM, SEML, SMMTC, TISSA, SOL, SOG, SLCP, OYAGSB, NCRC, CEDI and IASDO.
The main purpose of the workshop was to explain in more detail on:
- techniques for innovation
- What the intellectual property (IP) is about but focusing more on patent.
Right after the explanation, the hands-on session of idea generation for patent began. In this session, participants from the same school or institute sat together to brainstorm on any ideas that they have, while sketching them on the given pieces of papers.
The raw ideas were then collected by the secretariat and will be filtered or improvised later to suit the Intellectual Property Rights (IPRs) requirements.
The workshop was also facilitated by two other ICC fellows, Dr. Shahrul Azmi Mohd. Yusof and Dr. Ruzinoor Che Mat.
